Time to plan that 2020 fall vacation. Go ahead and let your significant other know just how much you have been thinking of them, and that you have decided they are worth a trip across the pond to take in all of the serenity that is Ireland. Maybe tell your dad that you’ve finally planned that golf trip he has been wanting for so long.

Whatever you need to do to get someone to help cover the cost of staying in Dublin and the surrounding countryside for a week, make it happen! It was announced this morning that the 2020 Navy vs. Notre Dame game will take place in Dublin, Ireland on Saturday August 29th.

This game will be held in Aviva Stadium and will be a part of a five-game “American Football Series” that is estimated to bring in over $250 million in economic value according to Prime Minister Varadkar in the official press release.

The longest intersectional rivalry in the country will now make its way across the Atlantic for the third time in its storied history.

The last time the two met in Ireland, it was 2012, the year of an undefeated regular season, a National Championship appearance against Alabama, and plenty of on and off field drama for the Fighting Irish with Brian Kelly, Everett Golson, Manti Te’o and company.

Notre Dame dominated that game against Navy, getting up 27-3 at halftime and cruising to a 50-10 victory. Many Navy fans might not remember, but it wasn’t all a loss, as it was our first look ever at a freshmen who would burst on the scene that year in Keenan Reynolds.

Here’s to hoping that the game in 2020 is a little more competitive. Regardless, it’s an opportunity you should start planning for now. Forget the kid’s college fund. Start saving up to watch the Mids and Irish in Dublin instead!
