NCAA Football: Eastern Michigan at Army Danny Wild-USA TODAY Sports

Army, fresh off a double overtime victory over Miami (OH), heads to Michigan on Saturday to take on the Eagles of EMU. Kelvin Hopkins Jr. is slated to return at quarterback, but if for some reason he is unable to go, Cam Thomas showed last weekend that Army fans shouldn’t be too worried.

With Hopkins back, the offense will look to continue its productivity, with sustained drives that put the pressure on Eastern Michigan to score each and every time they have the ball. If the defense can continue to turn that pressure into turnovers and points, it could be a long day in Ypsilanti for the home team.

However, as Coach Monken noted when he stopped practice for a period due to a lack of focus on Tuesday, this is an opponent who could easily be 8-0, not 4-4. Four losses by a combined 16 points including two on field goals in overtime games and a victory against a good Purdue team should have the Black Knights taking nothing for granted in this matchup.

Look for Army to come out fired up and dialed in as they look to get to 6-2 and become bowl eligible for the third straight season for the first time in program history.
