Around the Yard: Army lacrosse teams enjoy success, women’s tennis and golf maintain Patriot League dominance

It was a solid weekend for Army Athletics as they nabbed a couple of Patriot League titles and women’s lax gets its first PL tourney win

The Army West Point lacrosse teams both enjoyed success this weekend. First, the women’s lacrosse team made history by winning their first Patriot League tournament match - at home no less! With a 12-9 victory over Lehigh, the Black Knights advance to the Patriot League semifinals.

On the men’s side, Army dominated in their final regular season game against NJIT, posting a 19-6 win over the Highlanders. The men’s lacrosse team heads into Patriot League post-season play this weekend ranked #18/19 in national polls.

Women’s Tennis

Seeded third heading into the Patriot League tournament, the Army women’s tennis team defended their Patriot League Championship crown, defeating top-seeded Boston University.

Army golf also etched itself into Patriot League history after their Championship victory this past weekend. The Black Knights have now won a record 12 Patriot League Championships!

The Black Knights dropped in the Patriot League standings this weekend after splitting their doubleheader match-up with Holy Cross this past weekend. The baseball team will resume play against Sacred Heart in mid-week action.

On the other side of the fence, Army softball conceded three straight games to Boston University this past weekend. The Black Knights are back at home for an evening doubleheader against St. Peter’s this weekend before entering Patriot League post-season play.

The Black Knights wrapped up spring ball not too long ago, with the Black team defeating Gold 35-28 in the annual Black and Gold spring game. With captains named for the 2019-2020 season, the Army football team now heads into finals and summer training before getting back to the gridiron this fall.
