Army

• The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman likes Army this week, 51-10 over ULM.
• Nate Woody was named Defensive Coordinator of the Week by Athlon Sports.
• Army quarterback Christian Anderson said after the win over MTSU: “I think the Corps of Cadets did a really great job. They were really energized, and it made it seem like we had a crowd there. It gave us energy and the Corps did a great job being the 12 th man in the stands.”

Navy

• Navy didn’t tackle during preseason camp and lost by 52. Now ‘touch football is over.’ (Kareem Copeland, the Washington Post)

And a few Navy notes…

• Navy is now 7-6 in season openers under Ken Niumatalolo. The loss to BYU was the first season opener played at home that Navy has lost in the Niumatalolo era.
• The three points scored by the Mids vs. BYU were the third-fewest during the Niumatalolo era. Navy has twice been shut out during that timeframe; Cincinnati (Nov. 3, 2018) and San Jose State (Sept. 29, 2012).
• Diego Fagot had a career-high 13 tackles vs. BYU.
• Bijan Nichols’ 48-yard field goal vs. BYU was the second-longest of his career, just one yard shy of a field goal he converted vs. Memphis last season.
• The win for BYU was its largest over an FBS opponent since a 52-0 win over Wyoming in 2009.
• Navy senior quarterback Dalen Morris said after the game: “Grade wise, I would say an F. I didn’t execute well at all. The offense relies on me. It starts with me and ends with me. I think it showed today that if you don’t execute, you don’t win games… You go back to the drawing board. You put the hardhat back on and go to work. Simple as that.”
• Kristina Dzhandzhapanyan will captain Navy women’s soccer team this season. The Mids haven’t posted a schedule yet for this season, but will host Pitt on Sept. 20.

Air Force

• Santana Curtis is transferring away from Air Force. According to a statement on his Twitter account, he has entered the transfer portal. Listed on some sites as a defensive back and others as an athlete, 2020-21 was supposed to be his freshman year in Colorado Springs. He flipped to Air Force after initially verbally committing to Navy. The product of Knoxville, Tennessee also had offers from Army, Yale, Austin Peay, Harvard, Columbia, Brown, Mississippi Valley State, Tennessee Tech and Cornell.
• Air Force’s women’s basketball team has announced the addition of seven freshmen.
• Former Air Force men’s soccer player Tucker Bone landed on the USL Championship Team of the Week again after bagging two more goals. He now has four scores and one assist on the season in eight appearances.
